2019 New Zealand Education Fairs set for landing late this month

New Zealand is regarded as having one of the best education systems worldwide

The fairs will present a wide range of New Zealand scholarships, including the latest New Zealand Schools Scholarships (NZSS) offered exclusively to Vietnamese students.

A series of seminar sessions will also be held concurrently to help prospective students fully prepare for their upcoming journey to the country No. 1 in the world for “Educating for the Future.”

The fairs, organised by Education New Zealand with the support of the New Zealand Embassy (Hanoi) and the New Zealand Consulate (Ho Chi Minh City), are the country’s largest in-market promotional events in the calendar year.

On these auspicious occasions, there will also be a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between Waikato University (New Zealand) and Ton Duc Thang University (Vietnam), as well as between the government agencies of the two countries, marking continued progress for Vietnam-New Zealand education links.

The fairs will be promoting a wide range of scholarships for different levels of study including the New Zealand Schools Scholarships (NZSS), which provide support for talented Vietnamese high school students with scholarships offering 100 per cent, 50 per cent, and 30 per cent off tuition fees for the first year of study.

There will also be scholarships available for Vietnamese postgraduate students, as well as numerous scholarships offered by institutions joining the fairs.

“We appreciate that for Vietnamese students and parents, the decision-making process for selecting an international education destination is very thorough. And we believe that our New Zealand education fairs provide a fantastic opportunity for them to speak directly with our world-class education institutions, as well as our Vietnamese alumni, to better inform those decisions,” said Ben Burrowes, Education New Zealand’s regional manager, East Asia.

“Through the one-on-one discussions at our fairs in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, prospective Vietnamese students can discover which New Zealand institutions and programmes of study are best suited to their individual interests and career aspirations. They can also learn why the New Zealand education system is ranked at the very top of the world for preparing its students for the future,” Burrowes added.

The Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2017 Educating for the Future Index ranked New Zealand as the best education system overall, earning full marks for the curriculum framework for future skills, collaboration between education providers and industry, and cultural diversity and tolerance, among other measures.

New Zealand’s reputation for its future skills expertise, as well as its safe and welcoming environment for international students, have been the key reasons behind the continued increase in Vietnamese students choosing the country as their international education destination.

The number of Vietnamese students increased by 7 per cent in 2018 (34 per cent for the high school sector), with over 2,500 Vietnamese now studying in New Zealand.

As well as speaking directly to all the individual New Zealand institutions, visitors to the fairs will be able to join a series of special seminars where they can learn more general information from education experts and anecdotes from Vietnamese alumni as they share their experiences studying in New Zealand.

The 2019 fairs will also include a special workshop on pilot training opportunities in New Zealand.

Especially, visitors to both fairs will also stand a chance to win a pair of return air tickets to New Zealand (via Singapore) through a joint sponsorship between Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines.

Both airlines provide passengers with direct access to Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington via Singapore.

The passengers will also enjoy seamless connections to 20 domestic destinations within New Zealand on Air New Zealand domestic flights. There will be lucky draws held at both fairs and the winners will get to enjoy both Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines’ services for their flights.
