The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission has announced it has opened import injury proceedings and an investigation regarding shipments of wire rod in coil from Vietnam, the Republic of Korea and Indonesia.

The inquiry is predicated upon a complaint filed by Australian steel producer OneSteel Manufacturing alleging that the goods in question have been shipped to Australia at prices less than their normal value and that dumping has caused material injury to the Australian industry.

Further, OneSteel alleges that the injury is being incurred to the industry by way of price depression, loss of sales volume and market share, reduced sales, loss of earnings, as well as reduced profitability.

The investigation covers the period between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017.

The goods in question currently fall under Custom Tariff Statistics Position Number 7213.91.00.44 and 7227.90.90.02.
