World No 4 badminton player Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark will visit Vietnam to compete with local top seed Nguyen Tien Minh in a friendly match in Ho Chi Minh City on November 30.

The competition is part of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The 35-year-old Gade has made his mark in badminton history through his All England Open Badminton Championships singles title in 1999 and his four European Championships crowns in the men's single event.

With his 16 Grand-Prix titles the Dane topped the world rankings from 1998 to 2001 and has become one of the most successful players of all times.

Into his 30s, Gade remains active on the international circuit. On June 22, 2006, he briefly recaptured the No 1 spot in the world rankings after winning the Singapore Open and reaching the quarter-final at the Malaysia Open.

The Olympian Minh, who is ranked seventh in the world and has won gold medals at the SCG Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold and at the Yonex Chinese Taipei Gold Grand Prix in 2009, has met Gade six times before but never overcome the Dane.
