Vietnam’s young boxer wins silver at world boxing champs

Vietnam’s Do Hong Ngoc has clinched a silver medal in the final of the 2017 AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championships that took place in Guwahati, India from November 19-27.

Hong Ngoc lost to India’s Shashi Chopra in the final bout of the women’s 57kg class.

To secure her berth in the final, Hong Ngoc defeated foreign rivals Romalin Martinez of the US, and Hu Cailing of China in the quarter-final and semi-final, respectively.

This is the first silver medal for Vietnam women’s boxing at the World Youth Championship since 2011.

The Youth Women’s World Boxing Championship is a biennial event organized by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) since 2009.
