Vietnam’s 2nd Arsenal-supported football academy to start recruiting trainees next month

The Nutifood – Hoang Anh Gia Lai – Arsenal JMG football training academy will initially organize seven sessions for the preliminary recruitment round in Ho Chi Minh City from June 6 to 14 under the supervision of experts from Vietnamese food company Nutifood and English Premier League side Arsenal.

After that, the experts will travel to various venues in the north and central region to look for more trainees from June 16 to July 20.

The final round of recruitment will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from August 10 to 15.

All trainees will be temporarily stationed at the Phu Tho sports house in District 11 before the academy is built in the Rach Chiec sports center in District 2.

Those learners will go through their seven-year course at the school.

This is the second Arsenal-supported football academy in Vietnam after the Hoang Anh Gia Lai – Arsenal JMG Academy, which was set up in 2007 and is based in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.

Nutifood has worked with authorities in Ho Chi Minh City on a proposal to construct the academy after it signed a memorandum of understanding with the HAGL – Arsenal JMG Academy on January 31.

The firm’s plan on that academy has been submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for consideration.

Deputy Chairman of the committee Hua Ngoc Thuan has recommended that the academy be built in the Rach Chiec sports center.

The HAGL – Arsenal JMG Academy was founded by tycoon Doan Nguyen Duc, chairman of Vietnam’s privately owned HAGL Group, with technical assistance from Arsenal and Jean-Marc Guillou (JMG), a French ex-footballer and currently trainer.

Guillou and the company JMG has nine academies throughout the world, including sites in the Ivory Coast established in 1994, Madagascar in 2000, Thailand in 2005, Mali in 2006, Algeria and Egypt in 2007, Ghana in 2008, and Belgium in 2009.
