Vietnamese pair have good start at Việt Nam Futures

Lý Hoàng Nam and Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên had a promising start in men’s doubles at the Việt Nam Men’s Futures tennis tournament’s yesterday in Bình Dương Province.

The Vietnamese players are the No 4 seed duo. They defeated Canadian Kelsey Stevenson and Indonesian Anthony Susanto 6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-2 in the first round match.

In the quarter-final round, they will play Malaysian rivals Ahmed Deedat Abdul Razak and Mohd Assri Merzuri.

Also present in the last-eight, Việt Nam’s wild card receivers Trịnh Văn Phương and Trịnh Linh Giang will face No 1 seed Ken Onishi of Japan and Kittiphong Wachiramanowong of Thailand.

In the singles clashes, Vũ Artem of the host was defeated by Jirat Navasirisomboon of Thailand 0-6, 4-6. Trần Văn Hòa was also ousted after losing 1-6, 0-6 to Rhett Purcell of Great Britain.
