For both local and international travellers, Vietnam offers a wealth of exceptional tourism products and services that stand out due to their uniqueness and cultural significance. One of the best choices is the opportunity to experience traditional Vietnamese cuisine, which is renowned for its fresh ingredients, vibrant flavours, and regional diversity.

Additionally, travellers can explore Vietnam’s unique architectural landmarks, such as Hanoi’s Old Quarter or the ancient town of Hoi An, with its well-preserved buildings that reflect a blend of Vietnamese, Chinese, and French influences.
Moreover, participating in local cultural festivals, such as Lunar New Year or the Mid-Autumn Festival, or allows travellers to engage with the community and appreciate Vietnam’s traditions first-hand.
Recognising the growing concern for environmental sustainability among travellers, we have committed to using eco-friendly products, such as sustainable cleaning chemicals and room amenities. We also prioritise sustainably sourced ingredients in our food offerings. These initiatives enhance the guest experience and resonate with the values of sustainable travellers, allowing us to win their hearts and keep attracting guests despite the economic challenges ahead
Additionally, Vietnam is rapidly modernising and embracing technology, featuring widespread free Wi-Fi, app-based public transport, and skyscrapers that house department stores and high-end brands. These developments provide significant advantages for discerning travellers seeking both comfort and convenience.
However, we must acknowledge that concerns about rising travel expenses may impact consumer behaviour, considering the economic crisis and high airfares. As the cost of travel increases, potential visitors will be more discerning in their choices, seeking destinations that offer exceptional value and memorable experiences.
In the current environment, we are indeed facing challenges as a result of the economic crisis and elevated airfares as stated above. One significant challenge is that free independent travellers are increasingly concerned about the value they receive for their accommodation and overall trip. As a result, they tend to prioritise destinations and lodging options that cater to higher needs within Maslow’s hierarchy, such as safety, a sense of belonging, and ethical considerations.
To address these challenges, Sheraton Hanoi has intensified its focus on cleanliness and hygiene to meet our guests’ safety demands.
Additionally, we have developed more family-oriented value-added packages that include food and beverage offerings and provide activities for the whole family to enjoy together. This includes board games and festive workshops for children, along with a special mailbox for letters to Santa, which helps fulfill their desire for a sense of belonging.
In light of the global digital-green transformation, we recognise the necessity of adopting sustainable practices within the hospitality sector. While implementing sustainable products – such as eco-friendly room amenities and cleaning supplies – often incurs higher upfront costs, we also prioritise practices that yield long-term savings while promoting sustainability.

We have integrated solar energy into our fitness centre, which not only reduces energy expenses but also reinforces commitment to environmental responsibility. Additionally, we employ tech to recycle food waste, transforming it into organic fertiliser for our culinary garden. This garden provides fresh herbs and vegetables for our restaurants and is part of our broader initiative to achieve our zero food waste goal.
I have several suggestions that could enhance Vietnam’s visibility in the global tourism market. Firstly, to better protect scenic walking areas, measures should be taken to limit car and motorbike access. While Vietnam boasts stunning landscapes, the presence of vehicles often detracts from the natural beauty. Implementing designated pedestrian zones and ensuring proper parking facilities would enhance the visitor experience.
Secondly, many roads and tourist areas are cluttered with litter, primarily due to the lack of waste bins. Installing more rubbish bins in strategic locations would encourage responsible disposal and help maintain the cleanliness of these beautiful sites.
Additionally, Vietnam could benefit from participating in reality shows targeting potential source markets such as China, South Korea, Japan, the US, the EU, and India. These shows can effectively promote Vietnam’s diverse destinations, culture, and hospitality, reaching a wider audience and generating interest in travelling to our country.
By implementing these strategies and learning from successful practices in other countries, Vietnam can enhance its tourism appeal and position itself more prominently on the global tourism map.
