Corolla Altis, a model in Toyota’s latest recall over a fault with the electric window switch |
The move followed the company’s worldwide recall of more than seven million cars last week following the discovery of a fault with electric window switches.
According to a press release posted on Toyota’s website, the power window master switch may produce a ‘sticky feel’ during operation.
A total of 1,489 Corolla and 3,810 Vios vehicles produced in 2007 and 2008 are thought to be affected and being recalled.
If a lubricant is applied to the switch to address the problem, melting of the switch assembly or smoke could occur and lead to a fire under some circumstances, the carmaker added.
Toyota Vietnam said that the inspection and repair will be performed free of charge at its authorised dealers and service centres across the country.
