Occupying the third floor of the grade A Capital Place Building at 29 Lieu Giai in Hanoi and attaching the flagship Thang Long branch on the ground floor, the new head office brings together three existing offices across Hanoi into one place for seamless operations and better client service.

It features an open-plan office, creating a spacious and comfortable working environment for its employees, and applies technology to optimise office spaces and usability.

“Vietnam is an exciting and dynamic market and an important part of our global footprint. It’s great to see our business grow from strength to strength, offering an innovative suite of solutions for consumers and businesses, while contributing to the sustainable development of the Vietnamese economy. Deeply committed to Vietnam, we will continue to grow with the country and make a difference for its people and community,” said Patrick Lee, cluster CEO for Singapore & ASEAN Markets cum chair of the board of members at Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam.

In the same vein, Michele Wee, CEO of Standard Chartered Vietnam said, “As an important player in international trade and global supply chain and an alternative manufacturing hub, Vietnam holds strong potential for growth and offers tremendous business opportunities. We have been and will continue investing more resources in our local franchise to better serve our clients and capture the opportunities that the market offers. The inauguration of our new head office in Hanoi is a significant milestone of Standard Chartered’s development in Vietnam, underscoring our long-term commitment to the country, our clients and the community. We aspire to take our business to new heights, focusing on our clients and people and continuing to drive commerce and prosperity.”

Standard Chartered Vietnam’s new head office is also a demonstration of the bank’s sustainability commitment. Capital Place has been recognised with the LEED certification. The WELL Building Standard is a performance-based certification that focuses on human health. The LEED and WELL certifications recognise the steps taken by Standard Chartered towards establishing an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and healthier workplace.

The bank also applies sustainable features and standards in the new head office, from the light system to the materials used for the facilities. It also takes a further step towards investing in its employees’ health and wellbeing by ensuring safe drinking water in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) parameters, controlling air quality through a real-time indoor air quality monitoring system, and putting in place a micro marker which provides a variety of fruits and vegetables along with healthy snacks.

In order to provide an enhanced working experience for colleagues, the office has been designed to provide dedicated connect zones, a mother’s room, a first aid room, and a wellness room which colleagues are encouraged to use for exercise and meditation.

Standard Chartered is known as one of the oldest international banks in Vietnam, having established its first branch in Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City, in 1904.

The bank has invested significantly in Vietnam over the last few years. In late 2021, the bank made its third charter capital injection within three years to invest in the franchise and better serve its clients and the economy.

In April, the bank launched its flagship Thang Long branch on the ground floor of the Capital Place Building as part of the bank’s retail banking strategy, which leverages digital capabilities, combined with its physical presence, to provide clients with an exceptional banking experience.
