Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung stated that his ministry (MPI) has been encouraging innovation and arousing the desire of Vietnamese youth and intellectuals both at home and abroad to contribute.
“The inauguration of NIC marks the formation of not only a national innovation space, but also symbolises Vietnam's determination to promote innovation in growth models towards fast, sustainable growth based on science, technology, and innovation, to accelerate the industrialisation and modernisation of the country,” the Minister Dung said.
The NIC not only connects the domestic innovation ecosystem, but also connects with the innovation network in the region and around the world.
The complex is one of the first innovation centre models in the world owned by the state to implement the general goals of the country. The NIC is funded and operated entirely by private capital.
“These characteristics are expected to enable NIC to promote the development of Vietnam's innovation ecosystem and seize all opportunities of Industry 4.0 to make a breakthrough,” Minister Dung added.
With well-invested and modern infrastructure, the NIC will be the convergence of a dynamic ecosystem in the region, with the gathering of businesses, large technology corporations and local and regional talents, providing working space, research, incubation, and level up innovation projects to a new level.
With the witness of PM Pham Minh Chinh and Minister Dung, numerous MoU were signed between the NIC and partners including Vietnam National University in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Google, Samsung, SpaceX, Intel, Cadence, VinaCapital, Southeast Impact Alliance, VNPT, Sovico, FPT, and Tresemi.
These deals aim to boost innovation and develop high-quality human resources, especially in semiconductors.
Also at the inauguration ceremony of NIC Hoa Lac, the MPI and Meta delivered the Vietnam Innovation Award 2023 to 12 solutions and honoured the top four outstanding solutions of the Vietnam Innovation Challenge that was launched in October 2022.
The four solutions included the digital transformation platform oneSME from VNPT; automating processes with FPT IS' virtual assistant, FPT akaBot; unified enterprise management platform MISA AMIS; and the Benkon energy saving solution.
