Pebsteel was founded in November 1994 as a one-stop steel provider from design and fabrication, to installation for pre-engineered buildings and structural steel.
Over the course of its 29-year history, the company has grown impressively. Headquartered in Vietnam, it now has seven fabrication facilities in Vietnam and Myanmar and more than ten regional sales offices. Pebsteel has a presence in more than 50 countries, creating industry benchmarks and gaining a reputation for its craft, innovation, and understanding of its customers' needs.
Throughout its near three-decade journey, Pebsteel has taken pride not only in setting standards but also in its success, rooted as it is in the commitment of its people to technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
This spirit and core values have been clearly demonstrated even during the economic downturn. During the global financial crises of 1998 and 2008, the company actually increased its workforce and provided training to a larger number of individuals.
Fast-forward to 2023, and while the market is still filled with uncertainties and challenges, Pebsteel has come together as a team to adapt to the changing circumstances as it continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the steel industry. The company maintains employee salaries and benefits, and continues to focus on research and development (R&D) and training high-quality human resources.
Although the steel industry is not immune to market slowdowns, Pebsteel remains optimistic about the outlook and is happy to seize opportunities that could grow its exports. Specifically, Pebsteel opened a new office in Davao, the Philippines, last February. The move is part of the company's strategy to make a significant contribution to the eventual development of the regional economy there.
Priority has also been given to ensuring a stable capital position and financial stability. Banks are eager to do business with Pebsteel because the company is almost quarter-owned by Japanese shareholders, with the remainder held by European investors. This strong standing allows the company to make large investments with solid financial backing.
When businesses are hit by soaring costs and a weak economy, Pebsteel takes advantage of its financial strength and technological abilities to invest in people, machinery, and opportunities to make the most of the challenging scenario.
Thanks to its long-term commitment to investing in Vietnam, Pebsteel's influence can be found in almost every part of the country, with countless factories developed by the firm in industrial parks throughout Vietnam.
The company is particularity interested in new opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The global shift to green energy sources such as solar sees such ventures in high demand. As a major brand in the construction industry, Pebsteel needs to add services and solutions that help its valued customers accelerate their transition to renewable energy.
To facilitate this goal, a new division named PebSol was launched to enhance Pebsteel's capabilities in the solar energy sector. PebSol is involved in solar energy engineering, procurement, and construction, providing end-to-end services across the whole solar energy value chain. The new function covers everything from project planning and design to installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
Pebsteel guarantees international standards in the design and use of its brands of PV module inverters and mounting systems. This world-class quality allows its solar-power systems to withstand all kinds of extreme weather while remaining lightweight and causing no damage to buildings, all while ensuring high efficiency for maximum performance in energy conversion. With this new side to its business, Pebsteel is confident that the company can deliver even more value to its clients by providing them with a complete and integrated solar energy solution.
Pebsteel has also made tremendous efforts to support the community, especially to benefit students and underprivileged children, as the firm has partnered with stakeholders to implement corporate social responsibility activities. Among them, the company has cooperated with several universities to give students majoring in construction access to new technologies. Pebsteel has made efforts to pay back to the community where it operates.
Pebsteel continues to invest in R&D, train high-quality human resources, and expand its export markets. Furthermore, the company focuses on digital transformation by applying software solutions to optimise its processes and shorten procedures. Most importantly, it aims for sustainable development by investing in green technology, and offers customers green buildings with LEED and LOTUS certificates.
Pebsteel’s focus areas for the upcoming 30th anniversary milestone include innovation, customer satisfaction, employee wellbeing, sustainability, and addressing global challenges. The company will launch a wide range of activities, bringing the story of its unstoppable journey of growing and pushing the boundaries of innovation.
