Vietnamese police today confirms that they have discovered no match-fixing sign in the Suzuki Cup return-leg semifinal game between Vietnam and Malaysia on December 11. Vietnam lost 4-2 at the match in Hanoi.

Lieutenant general Tran Trong Luong, deputy chief of a general police department under the Ministry of Public Security, confirmed the information and added that his agency stops investigating into the case.

Before, Sportradar – a partner of the Asean Football Federation and supplier of betting-related data services – had said it found no sign in the betting markets to prove that the Vietnam - Malaysia match in Hanoi was fixed.

The security service did not observe any suspicious betting patterns in any of the pre-match or live betting markets, the AFF confirmed on its official website as quoting the conclusion of Sportradar.

Although Malaysia recorded a surprising victory to advance to the final, it can find no betting evidence to suggest that this match was targeted for manipulation, Sportradar added in its conclusion.

Vietnam beat Malaysia 2-1 in the first leg semis match on Dec.7 in Kuala Lumpur but surprisingly lost 4-2 to Malaysia in Hanoi in the return game four days later.

The AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 was co-hosted by Singapore and Vietnam from November 22 to December 20, with Thailand crowning the championship title after beating Malaysia 4-3 on aggregate.

After the humiliating loss, the public opinions in Vietnam suspected that Vietnamese defenders might fix the match and local police launched a probe into the allegations.
