Nidec Precision Corporation Vietnam hacked for ransom

Nidec Precision Corporation said that its business group has been contacted by an unidentified external group to be informed that they had hacked into the network of the company’s subsidiary in Vietnam, to steal documents and files on its server. A blackmail message was sent to demand the company to pay a ransom.

While the company started consulting outside experts immediately after the incident occurred, the company's investigations confirmed that part of the information was posted on the website where the criminal group claimed to have a sample of the stolen information.

So far, the company has not been able to identify the specific extent of the data leak caused by this incident. The company is determined to investigate the incident thoroughly and offer more details, while launching all available measures to prevent its recurrence.

Nidec Corporation apologised for the trouble caused by the attack that the external group launched on NPCV. The company pledges to exert its best efforts by utilising any and all required resources to the fullest extent possible to solve this incident both promptly and properly.

NPCV specialises in manufacturing of precision minimotors, mold tools, press stamping parts, molding parts, and surface treatments parts. Its factory is located in Saigon Hi-Tech Park.

Nidec Corporation started investing in Vietnam in 1997, with a total investment reaching over $1 billion and creating about 15,000 jobs.
