Top Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh’s 55,354 points have secured him 8th place in the newest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

Minh will attend the Korean Open this January entering the tournament seeded sixth and the Malaysia Open, where he is seeded third.

The world rankings’ top 10 remains unchanged since Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei reclaimed the lead from China’s Lin Dan. He extended the gap between himself and second-placed Chen Long (also from China).

Lin Dan now ranks fourth between fellow Chinese players Chen Jin in third and Du Pengyu in fifth.

Japan’s Kenichi Tago was ranked seventh followed by Indonesia’s Simon Santoso, currently 3,000 points higher than Minh.

Japan’s Sho Sasaki and Hong Kong’s Hu Yun rounded out the top 10.

The female rankings were also unchanged, with the China’s Li Xuerui and Wang Yihan dominating the top two and India’s Saina Nehwal in third.
