Vietnam’s Karateka Nguyen Thanh Duy clinched a bronze medal at the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD 17) in the Republic of Korea on October 3.

This was the only medal for the Vietnamese team on the 14th competition day of the continent’s largest sporting event in Incheon city.

Duy beat Assadilov Darkhan from Kazakhtan 7-1 in the Kumite under 60kg category for men. Other Vietnamese competitors in taekwondo and karate events failed to proceed further at ASIAD 17 as they faced stronger rivals.

Vietnam ranks 21st in the medal tally with one 1 gold, 10 silver and 25 bronze medals.
