Rising amid market volatility

According to its Q3 2024 financial report, while many securities firms faced profit declines compared to the same period last year, Kafi Securities continued to solidify its market position with exceptional business results. In the first nine months of 2024, Kafi achieved a pre-tax profit of VND160 billion ($6.3 million), marking an impressive 88 per cent increase, surpassing its total profit for 2023. Revenue surged by 95 per cent, reaching VND616 billion ($24.2 million), with significant growth across key business segments. Brokerage services increased by 222 per cent, margin lending by 254 per cent, and proprietary trading by 56 per cent.

Despite a 65 per cent rise in management expenses due to the company's strategic expansion, the cost-to-income ratio (CIR) improved, declining from 35 per cent to 32 per cent, reflecting enhanced operational efficiency.

Kafi’s securities brokerage segment demonstrated a stellar performance, with margin loans climbing to VND4.68 trillion ($184.2 million) and stock trading value reaching VND59.2 trillion ($2.3 billion), a remarkable 4.6-fold increase on-year. This substantial growth highlights Kafi’s strong market positioning and its ability to consistently address the evolving needs of investors. The success was largely driven by the company's competitive and transparent margin lending programmes, which offer tailored, flexible solutions. Particularly noteworthy is the Margin-Zero product, which, by offering a 0 per cent interest rate for debt balances under VND100 million ($3,936), attracted significant interest and contributed to a 400 per cent increase in the number of investors utilising Kafi's margin lending services.

In July 2024, Kafi Securities took a pivotal step in its growth journey, with shareholders approving a capital increase from VND2.5 trillion ($98.4 million) to VND5 trillion ($196.8 million), and further plans to raise it to VND7.5 trillion ($295.2 million) next year.
