Forward Amare Stoudemire, pictured here in December 2011, returned to training with the New York Knicks and could be back in action Wednesday against Charlotte after missing two NBA games with a sprained left ankle.

"I didn't do much as far as physical play but I was able to get out there, step back on the basketball court and see how it feels," Stoudemire said.

"It was tough watching, so I can't wait to get back out there to really give us that push that we need."

Stoudemire hurt his ankle in the Knicks' 99-82 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last Thursday.

The Knicks are 1-1 without him, beating Sacramento on New Year's Eve but falling to Toronto on Monday.

Coach Mike D'Antoni said Stoudemire would be a game-time decision on Wednesday, when the Knicks host the Bobcats.
