The store in 169 Co Bac Street operates completely without direct contact between buyers and sellers. Buyers move one way and shop according to prearranged instruction boards, then proceed to pay with cashiers via an online-connected screen.
The store will be open from 8am to 5pm daily, expected to be deployed until the end of the social distancing. However, frontline forces including the police, the army, and the women's union, as well as other local authorities, will buy and distribute goods to households.
Nguyen Thanh Nhan, general director of Grove Fresh, said that this new model provides hundreds of essential items such as meat, fish, eggs, rice, fruits, and vegetables for the people of the city during the period of social distancing.
It is expected that this model will provide about four tonnes of goods per day. A second store is poised to open at 79 Pham Viet Chanh, Binh Thanh district.
