Kim Long Securities (KLS) added 2.88 per cent with 2.7 million shares traded. VnDirect Securities (VND) gained 1.92 per cent after 1.7 million shares changed hands.
Bao Viet Securities (BVS) and PetroVietnam Securities Inc. (PSI) also significantly rose with relatively high liquidity.
Other major stocks largely rose as well, with PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) up 1.77 per cent, Sacomreal (SCR) 0.96 per cent, Vietnam Construction and Import-Export (VCG) 1.53 per cent and PetroVietnam Northern Gas (PVG) climbing 2.5 per cent.
The benchmark HNX-Index gained 0.34 points or 0.47 per cent to 72.28 points. Liquidity significantly rose against previous session to 24.33 million worth VND251.56 billion ($12.1 million), with put-through volume making up 4.66 million shares worth VND48.1 billion ($2.3 million).
Banking shares Saigon-Hanoi Bank (SHB) shed, while Habubank (HBB) was unchanged. Advancers and decliners ran evenly on the northern bourse.
The main bourse Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) kept a lackluster trend, with the benchmark VN-Index strongly losing 7.84 points or 1.84 per cent to 417.25 points.
Finance shares Sacombank (STB), Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) and Eximbank (EIB) all ended flat, while PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) strongly dropped.
Masan Group (MSN) hit the floor, Vincom Corp. (VIC) shed 2.26 per cent to VND130,000, while Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) reducing 3.42 per cent to VND70,500.
Other major blue-chips including Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Song Da Urban & Industrial Zone Investment and Development (SJS) sunk in red. FPT Corp. (FPT) was among the few gainers again.
At the close, up to more than half the market, or 162 stocks, ended lower. Just 53 stocks advanced and 77 were unchanged. The rising trend was mainly focused on mid-cap stocks on the southern bourse like yesterday’s session.
Liquidity improved along with that on the HNX. Trading volume reached 32.2 million shares worth VND644.41 billion ($31.1 million), helped by put-through volume strongly rising to 14.1 million shares worth VND334 billion ($16.1 million).
