The first of a series of five-star hotels to grace Hanoi’s skyline started to take shape last week. The $80 million Charmvit Corp project confirms the Hanoi People’s Committee’s determination to reduce the capital’s shortage of high-end hotels.
The South Korean firm’s project will see a hotel, offices for lease and trading centres take shape in Tu Liem district’s Tran Duy Hung New Urban Area.
Charmvit Corp president Lee Dae Bong said the complex would offer more than 150,000 square metres of floor space, including 27 storeys and two underground levels.
An international conference centre, swimming pool, health care and high-end trading centre will be located from the first to the fourth floors.
From the fifth floor the building will be divided into two towers, one a hotel and the other offices.
The complex was expected to open its doors by July, 2009, said Bong.
Hanoi’s mayor Nguyen Quoc Trieu said local authorities would coordinate with investors to ensure the project keeps on schedule.
Charmvit is also developing a 54-hole golf course and another five-star hotel with 200 rooms in Hoa Binh province’s Luong Son district.
Charmvit’s $30 million Phoenix golf course, which covers 311 hectares and 18 holes, is already operational.
The rest of the project will be completed this year.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has approved five five-star hotels in Cau Giay and Tu Liem districts to be developed by 2010. PetroVietnam, South Korea’s Keangnam Enterprise, Japan’s Riviera and domestic company Tran Hong Quan are the backers.
Keangnam Enterprise expects to start construction this month, while Riviera and PetroVietnam want to start building in September.
All of the projects are expected to be finished in time for Hanoi’s 1,000 anniversary.
