Four businesses to come under investigation for owing social insurance

Hanoi Social Insurance has just announced forwarding the document of four businesses to public security authorities to deal with social insurance arrears. The companies include Mechanical Construction JSC 121 and 116 Civil Engineering Construction JSC (two subsidiaries of CIENCO 1), TONKINCO JSC, and Thuan Thanh E&C JSC.

Hanoi Social Insurance has already sent the documents of these four companies to Hanoi Public Security Department to inspect their long-term social insurance arrears.

Of these, Mechanical Construction JSC 121 – CIENCO 1 owed more than VND18.7 billion ($813,050), 116 Civil Engineering Construction JSC – CIENCO 1 owed VND16.3 billion ($708,700), TONKINCO JSC VND1.5 billion ($65,220), and Thuan Thanh E&C JSC VND874 million ($38,000).

The companies are far behind their responsibilities regarding social insurance, which may impact the lives of thousands of employees and social welfare in the capital. The representative of Hanoi Social Insurance said that these cases will need strict handling.

According to the body, as of the end of November, the businesses in Hanoi owed a total of more than VND1.8 trillion ($78.26 million) in social insurance.
