Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) organised a conference on February 10 to meet contractors who are interested in participating in the bidding package for the construction and equipment installation for the passenger terminal building.
The conference attracted the attention of 20 contractors from South Korea, China, and Vietnam, more than triple the figure from the previous bid. However, there were no contractors from Germany or Japan present.
Speaking at the conference, Do Tat Binh, deputy general director of ACV and director of the Management Board of Long Thanh International Airport said, "The interested contractors should have a profound understanding of the requirements within the bidding dossiers and be fully prepared."
The ACV released the dossiers on January 19 and the deadline for registration is March 28. The bidding will open at 10am on the same day.
At the conference, the interested investors showed concern that the deadline for bidding is too soon to implement a practical quote.
In December last year, the ACV had to issue a notification about the cancellation of the previous bidding package for the same project. The investors said that it is a large and complicated project, but the construction deadline was too rushed. Thus, they felt unable to meet the requirements. They also felt that the offered price was much lower compared to the strict technical and quality standards.
The contract package involved the design, construction, and equipment installation for the passenger terminal, which belongs to the component venture covering essential airport facilities under the first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport project.
This was the biggest contract package for the first phase of the airport. The construction was planned to be implemented within 1,000 days from the effective date of the contract, as prescribed by Vietnamese law.
