Becamex Binh Duong were crowned kings of the top-tier V-League 2014 season after a 3-1 win on Sunday over hosts Dong Tam Long An.

The football club from southern Binh Duong Province has become the first team to win three V-League titles since the competition started in 2000. All three titles have been under the leadership of Vietnamese coach Le Thuy Hai, 68.

Binh Duong have earned 48 points after the penultimate 23rd round, four more than Hanoi T&T, the runners-up.

They have announced that they will award their players and coaches a prize of VND4 billion (US$192,300) for the victory.

The third place will be decided in the last round next week between Thanh Hoa with 40 points and SHB Da Nang, who are two points adrift.

With the withdrawal of the two clubs Vissai Ninh Binh and Hanoi ACB earlier this season due to financial difficulties, V-League 2014 has no team to be relegated.

A playoff between the bottom-ranked Hung Vuong An Giang and the second-tier First Division side Can Tho will take place on August 16 to decide the winner of a spot in the 12-team V-League for the 2015 season.

After 23 rounds, striker Hoang Vu Samson of Hanoi T&T is leading the top scorer title with 22 goals.
