PM requests efforts to start the construction of new electricity line

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a telegram requesting the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to urgently complete a plan to ensure electricity supply for production, business, and consumption of the people in the last months of 2023, and 2024, avoid electricity shortages, and report to the PM before September 15.

The PM directed the MoIT for preparation to implement investment projects under the 500kV line project of Circuit 3 from Quang Trach (the central province of Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (the northern province of Hung Yen) in accordance with regulations.

Thus, the construction of component projects will be kicked off as soon as possible. Efforts should be made to start construction in September 2023.

According to this telegram, the PM requested the MoIT urgently complete and submit to competent authorities for consideration and promulgation of policy to promote the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power and direct power purchasing agreements.

The MoIT must urgently complete the PM's directive on ensuring electricity, coal, and gas supply for electricity production. The ministry needs to report to the PM by September 15.

In addition, the PM also requested bolstered supervision of the national power system operation. The operational efficiency of the National Power System Dispatch Centre needs to be monitored closely to prevent risks and incidents due to subjective factors in management and operation.

Meanwhile, the Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) is requested to direct, urge, and supervise Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), and Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) to deploy assigned power project investment projects as quickly as possible. The CMSC should focus on directing the implementation of important initiatives

The 500kV line project of Circuit 3 with a length of 514km, connecting from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen), has a total investment of VND23 trillion with four subprojects. This project was approved to carry out inter-regional power transmission to the north, increasing the power supply capacity.
