On March 31, NA deputies elected Vice Chairwoman of the NA Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan as Chairwoman of the NA and Chairwoman of the National Election Council (NEC).
With 484 valid votes, 472 (95.5%) approved Ngan as NA Chairwoman and 462 (94.5%) agreed to name her as Chairwoman of the NEC.
On April 2, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang was elected as State President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to replace former State President Truong Tan Sang.
With 465 valid votes, 436 approved Quang as State President and 460 (93.12%) ratified the Resolution on the election of Mr. Tran Dai Quang as State President.
Do Ba Ty and Phung Quoc Hien have been elected Vice Chairmen of the 13th NA, according to the voting results announced on April 5 morning.
General Do Ba Ty, who is a member of the Party Central Committee, the Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, was voted into the post by 459 or 92.91% of the total NA deputies.
With the support of 433 or 87.65% of the NA deputies, the position was also assigned to Phung Quoc Hien, who is a member of the Party Central Committee, a member of the NA Standing Committee and the former Chairman of the NA’s Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs.
The results of the election of new members of the 13th NA’s Standing Committee were also announced on April 5 morning, with seven persons voted into the committee including Ha Ngoc Chien, Tran Van Tuy, Vo Trong Viet, Nguyen Duc Hai, Le Thi Nga, Nguyen Thuy Anh and Nguyen Thanh Hai with 84,62% approval.
The new PM and Deputy PMs will be elected on April 7 and 9, respectively.
