At the press conference to provide information about pandemic prevention and control in the area on August 13, Duong Anh Duc, Deputy Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee revealed that the city has vaccinated more 4.3 million people with the first shot, of which around 100,000 people have received both doses.

There have been 87 hospitals and 1,200 injection teams. The city has accelerated injection speed, with a maximum of 318,000 doses inoculated per day. All vaccines provided by the Ministry of Health have been administered.

The vaccinations are implemented flexibly, including fixed and mobile injection points to support people.

Around 456,000 out of 650,000 people were primed to be vaccinated, including elderly people over 65 years old and people with underlying medical conditions, reaching more than 70 per cent of the plan. Earlier, Ho Chi Minh City planned to ensure vaccinations for 70 per cent of the city's population aged 18 and above in August.

The city continues to promote access to many vaccine sources. In addition to requesting the Ministry of Health to support additional sources of vaccines and use another million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, which has been appraised by the ministry, the city is making efforts to buy five million doses of Moderna, imported by Saigon Pharmaceutical Company and sponsored by VinaCapital.

Ho Chi Minh City also takes advantage of international cooperation with countries and territories that have good relations with Vietnam to import more vaccines in the future.
