VIR’s scholarship drive continues
VIR’s editor-in-chief Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan had donated 13 scholarships worth VND2 million ($100) each to 13 students from ethnic minority groups who won prizes in national contests and excelled in 2010 entrance exams to colleges and universities.
The scholarships were given in a ceremony held by the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Training to honour highly-performed students from ethnic minorities.
In the ceremony, 88 students were rewarded with scholarships, with 10 taken from the Swing for the Kids golf tournament fund sponsored by VIR.
In 2010, the Swing for the Kids fund donated more than 1,700 scholarships worth VND950 million ($47,500) to needy pupils and students with good academic records in locations throughout the country.
