Tien Giang approves 22 projects worth $351 million |
The announcement came from the leader of Tien Giang People’s Committee at a press-conference to announce the Tien Giang Investment Promotion Conference 2018 themed “Tien Giang: Investment Opportunities – Accompanying For Development”.
According to Le Van Huong, chairman of Tien Giang People’s Committee, the investment promotion conference will focus on introducing socio-economic achievements, promote the potential and strengths of the province and outline policies in order to to attract investors.
The conference will also be an opportunity for investors with existing investments or intention to look for investment opportunities in the province to meet and discuss with provincial leaders and higher levels.
In the framework of the conference, the province will issue a decision to approve in principle 31 projects, including 22 investment projects worth VND7.94 trillion ($351.32 million) and nine study projects worth VND7.71 trillion ($341.15 million).
In addition, the province will release a list of 19 projects calling for investment.
According to statistics presented at the press conference, from 2016 to June 2018, Tien Giang attracted 58 investment projects with total registered capital of VND9.43 trillion ($417.25 million), 25 projects of which came from local investors with total registered capital of VND5.62 trillion ($248.67 million). In addition, investors registered to pour an additional VND5.09 trillion ($225.22 million) into 23 existing projects.
In general, in the 2016-2018 period, the province attracted a total of VND20 trillion ($884.95 million) in investment capital.
Regarding the growth in enterprise volume, in 2016-2017, there were 1,200 newly-registered enterprises. In the first six months of this year, this figure reached 378 enterprises. As of June 30, 2018, 4,801 enterprises began operating in the province, 3,121 enterprises of which are operating in projects.
The investment promotion conference will be held on August 9 at Tien Giang Convention Centre at 6C, Rach Gam street, ward 1, My Tho city. There will be three exhibition booths, highlighting the province’s potential and demand to attract investment in sectors namely agriculture, industry, commerce and services and one booth for the startup sector. There will also be an area set aside for introducing firms’ achievements, expected to see the participation of 100 enterprises. |
