Sustainable Forest Management in Central Truong Son Landscapes project approved

  The PM has approved the project on Integrating Biodiversity Conservation, Climate Resilience and Sustainable Forest Management in Central Truong Son Landscapes.    

The project, worth US$4,544,954, is financed by the Global Environment Facility with a non-refundable aid of US$3,794,954 through the Asian Development Bank and the corresponding capital of the Vietnamese Government of US$750,000.

The project aims to strengthen management and maintenance of the biodiversity for the protected areas and surrounding areas at the Central Truong Son Landscapes and guarantee the sustainable forest ecosystem and climate resilience at the Central Truong Son Landscapes to bring benefits for local people and contribute to the regional economic growth rate.

The project includes two components including improvement in biodiversity planning and management in the corridor landscape and the landscape conservation measures at the community level.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the central provinces of Quang Tri, Thua Thien –Hue and Quang Nam will launch the project from 2015-2018.
