SABECO continues to rake in awards for special brands

The company, better known as SABECO, was last week named as one of the Top 50 Best Listed Companies in 2024 by Forbes Vietnam magazine. This was the seventh consecutive inclusion in the list.

The rankings are based on the previous year’s audited consolidated financial reports of the companies listed on the Vietnam Stock Exchange. Companies listed on domestic exchanges are carefully vetted to make the List of 50 Best Listed Companies in 2024.

Companies that want to participate in the preliminary round must be able to turn a profit in 2023 and have at least VND500 billion ($20.85 million) in revenue and capitalisation. Firms receive scores based on five factors: revenue growth rate compounded annually, profit, return on equity, return on capital, and growth in earnings per share between 2019 and 2023.

Also in August, SABECO and its brands were recognised at the 2024 World Beer Awards. Each of the four lagers that had entered the competition was awarded prizes.

Bia Saigon Export Premium and Bia Saigon Special took silver, while Bia Lac Viet and Bia Saigon Export were honoured with gold medals and acknowledged as the best of their varieties in Vietnam.

Additionally, Bia Lac Viet was also granted the title of World’s Best Light Lager, recognising it as the best beer with an ABV range from 2.6 to 4.5 per cent.

The World Beer Awards, renowned for honouring exceptional beers from around the globe, received thousands of entries this year. SABECO’s Bia Lac Viet stood out in a highly competitive field, impressing judges with its balanced flavour, crispness, and refreshing character.

The awards demonstrates SABECO’s brewing expertise and emphasise Vietnam’s rising stature in the world beer scene.

This was not the first time the company and its brands had recorded awards internationally. Last year, at the World Beer Championship, SABECO won four gold medals for its Bia Lac Viet Lager, Bia Saigon Limited Edition Gold Pilsner, Bia Saigon Lager, and Bia Saigon Export Lager. It also took home a silver medal each for Bia 333 Pale Lager, Bia Saigon Coffee Infused Lager, Bia Saigon Special Lager, and Bia Saigon Chill Lager.

The company overcame hundreds of submissions from talented brewers from all over the world by concentrating on making sure its brands embody the heart and soul of the Vietnamese people, particularly the modern consumer’s optimism and elevated standards of quality.

SABECO has also won a series of other international awards in recent years, including a gold medal at the International Beer Awards 2019, several awards including gold at the 2019 International Beer Cup, gold and silver prizes at the International Beer Awards 2020, and gold and silver at the Monde Selection Awards 2021.

To maintain presence in the local market and reach out to the international market, SABECO has promoted its research and development to improve product quality and launch new product lines. Most recently, in August, it launched the 333 Pilsner beer line - a lighter and smoother version of the legendary 333 brand.

The new product was created by local brewers with a deep understanding of Vietnamese tastes, combined with the use of European technology and high-quality imported ingredients.

SABECO has 26 breweries and 11 trading subsidiaries, and a distribution network consisting of hundreds of thousands of retailers nationwide. The company offers a brand portfolio that consists of some of the most well-loved beer brands in Vietnam, including Bia Saigon Lager, Bia Saigon Chill, Bia Saigon Special, Bia Saigon Export, Bia Saigon Gold, and 333.
