The plant using technology transferred by the Republic of Korea-based Hyundai Group is being built on 11ha with an investment of $185.5 million.
Under the first phase of the project that will last through January 2014, with one engine assembly line and three manufacturing lines, the plant is expected to turn out engines with capacities ranging from 63-155HP and meeting EURO II, EURO III standards. The engines are designed for use in trucks, buses, and ships, as well as industrial and farm machines.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said this is the first project to locally manufacture engines with such various requirements. It is an important project in Vietnam ’s programme on developing key mechanical engineering products and the supporting industry.
He urged ministries, sectors and relevant agencies to facilitate the plant’s early operation.
