Planting for a greener future

Japan’s office equipment maker Canon Vietnam is greatly contributing to Vietnam’s green development targets.

The company recently held the “Environmental Protection Propaganda Programme” at Kim Chung Primary Schoolin Hanoi with the aim to raise awareness of environmental protection for pupils and guiding them to protect environment through small actions in daily life.

Oku Toshiro, general manager of Canon Vietnam’s corporate planning division, said “responsibility of protecting environment is not only for one person but also for everyone in the world, including pupils”.

Besides, Canon Vietnam also partly contributes to environment protection activities through planting forest project “For a Green Vietnam” that kicked-off in 2009.

Last year, it signed an agreement with Vietnam’s two provinces for building “For a Green Vietnam 2011”. Under that, Canon Vietnam would  sponsor planting forests on 30 hectares with total budget of $25,641 in Bac Giang and Thanh Hoa provinces

Canon Vietnam was established in April, 2001. It has three factories, one factory located in Hanoi and two factories located in Bac Ninh province. At present, Canon Vietnam has more than 20,000 employees and produces printers that print all kinds of documents, images and pictures.
