VNR leaders worked with a business group led by Hirofumi Mori, chief representative of Nippon Koei in Vietnam, on May 30 |
At the meeting, the representative of Nippon Koei introduced railway projects that the company has joined in countries in the world.
Nippon Koei proposed some new projects in Vietnam such as upgrading and electrifying existing railway routes while building new lines between Van Dien and Yen Vien, developing container depots in suburban areas of Hanoi, and upgrading the signal information system along existing railway routes.
Vu Anh Minh, chairman of VNR, highlighted the Japanese company’s experience in infrastructure development, adding that there are three issues the two sides can work on together. These are the Yen Vien-Van Dien railway route which can be developed towards avoiding going through the city centre to reduce site clearance costs; developing goods depots and passenger transport in suburban areas; and developing railway lines under the public-private partnership model connecting the Noi Bai International Airport with major points to ease traffic jams.
Nippon Koei joined many projects in Vietnam, including the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro Line 1, among others.
