Successful teachers participating in this course will have the opportunity to study and interact with colleagues from South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia, under the guidance of lecturers from Massey University in New Zealand.
The NZGCC programme is an educational initiative pioneered by ENZ in Vietnam since 2020 to equip educators with the skills they need to study and work in a globalised world and enhance their opportunities to exchange, cooperate, and share with colleagues from many countries in the region.
Joining the course will help the participating teachers to effectively orientate and support their students on their journey to becoming global citizens.
To date, 161 learners in Vietnam have been granted New Zealand Global Competence Certificates, including 60 teachers from nine provinces across the country.
The NZGCC course is built on the e-learning platform from AFS Intercultural Programs, a reputable and experienced non-profit organisation in the field of global competency training.
All course content will be taught in English and there will be many interactive spaces on the online platform for teachers from all over the world to share their experiences and perspectives.
Ben Burrowes, regional director of Asia at Education New Zealand said, “We're confident the NZGCC programme will help provide Vietnamese teachers with valuable tools to enhance their global competence and apply to their daily work, inspiring and assisting their students in developing their own important skills such as critical thinking, cross-cultural communication, and open-mindedness.”
“These are also the values that New Zealand's education system aims to equip our learners with," added Burrowes.
Teachers and lecturers nationwide with English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or higher who are currently living and teaching in Vietnam can apply for these fully-funded scholarships by filling in the application form and submitting a short video answering three questions from the selection committee.
The course will last five weeks and be completely online, so students can study at their own pace and adapt it to suit their schedule.
In addition to the online learning materials, lectures, and exercises, students will have five interactive sessions on Zoom with instructors and other teachers from South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia to exchange ideas and discuss the lesson content and practical perspectives more deeply.
The application period runs from now until August 21.
