Lam Dong proposes to upgrade Lien Khuong Airport |
The Central Highlands province targets to upgrade the existing airport from 4D level to 4E level with a designed capacity of five million passengers by 2030. The upgraded airport would then feature one international terminal with an upgraded runway and other infrastructural facilities.
The construction is expected to be implemented in the 2023-2026 period.
Chairman of Lam Dong People’s Committee Tran Van Hiep said that the airport has an important role in promoting the socioeconomic development of the province and the Central Highlands.
“However, the airport’s existing infrastructure does not meet the increasing demand of both domestic and international passengers. At present, several investors have expressed interest in upgrading the airport,” Hiep said.
Lien Khuong is the biggest of three airports in the Central Highlands, with the other two being Pleiku in Gia Lai province and Buon Ma Thuot in Dak Lak province.
It has a runway stretching 3,250m long and 45m wide, along with a passenger terminal of 1,000 square metres.
