The Eastern Cluster of the North-South Expressway comprises 12 sections, which are planned to be cleared in 2022-2023, and fully completed in 2025
The Ministry of Transport estimates that the total investment amounts to nearly $6.4 billion. The venture will connect Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and 32 cities and provinces, expecting to contribute 65.7 per cent of GDP, and have an influence on activities of 74 per cent of seaports and 75 per cent of economic zones.
At the meeting with ministries, relevant agencies and cities and provinces on February 18, DPM asked to take action to complete the 360km of the North-South Expressway by the end of 2022.
Meanwhile, the total land area for Long Thanh International Airport will be cleared and handed over in the second quarter of 2022 to ensure the construction schedule.
The entire airport, which is expected to cost about $14.5 billion, is designed to have four runways, four passenger terminals, and other auxiliary facilities to ensure a capacity of 100 million passengers and five million tonnes of cargo a year by 2040.
