Japan’s second largest group, Nidec Group, joined hands with Vietnam's leading elevator and escalator firm Alpec to meet the growing demand for elevators in Vietnam and centralise control over product safety and quality.

Nidec and Alpec signing the strategic co-operation agreement

General director of Nidec Elvator David Molnar said at the signing ceremony of the strategic co-operation agreement that Nidec Group specialises in and handles motor application products based on "everything that spins and moves," centering on a motor business that comprises an expansive product line from small precision to supersized motors.

“This co-operation will help Nidec and Alpec to supply completive elevators with safety and quality. Nidec will supply objects and devices as well as global standards for management for Alpec,” said Molnar.

This is part of Nidec Group’s expansion in the next years. In June 2017, Nidec announced plans to invest approximately $500 million in Vietnam over the coming years in an on-going effort to respond to the increasing demand for energy efficient high-performance brushless motors and other motors for use in high-tech devices, such as robots.

He added that there was substantial potential for elevator sales and services with the planned construction of offices, hotels, and residential and industrial buildings.

In Vietnam, the demand from urban railway systems, hotels, office buildings, and residential buildings has been increasing due to the recent rapid growth of the urban population. As a result, the demand for elevators and escalators that enable smooth transfer in these buildings is also expected to rise by over 7 per cent of the annual growth rate.

General director of Alpec Joint Venture JSC, a subsidiary of Alphanam Group, Nguyen Tuan Phuong said that Vietnam’s annual elevator growth reached 30 per cent in recent years, giving great potentials for investors, but supply depends mostly on imports.

Phuong added that the brand’s core competency has always been safety. This includes the safety of stakeholders whether they are passengers, customers or the employees who install and maintain the smooth operation of the product.

Established in 2005, Alpec (formerly Fuji Alpha), is the largest elevator and escalator manufacturer in Vietnam. The company specialises in the manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of elevators, escalators, and car parking systems with various outstanding features, absolute safety, advanced technologies, unique design concept, and especially affordability.
