Vietnam-based Indo-Trans Logistics Corporation (ITL) will establish e-commerce logistics company SpeedLink, aiming to set a solid foothold in the e-commerce logistics sector in Vietnam as well as Southeast Asia.

SpeedLink will focus on providing e-commerce logistics services, a sector which is considered to hold more potential than general logistics services.

According to an ITL representative, the express service market has been dominated by a select few leading logistics enterprises, thus, in order to compete with these competitors, ITL will have to provide the best services for customers by incorporating technology in delivery.

ITL was established in 1999. The company offers integrated logistics solutions with businesses in air and sea freight forwarding, third-party logistics solutions and distribution, and general sales agency for airlines. It currently has offices across most key cities in Vietnam.

Earlier in June 2011, SingPost spent $10.8 million to acquire a 30 per cent stake in ITL. The deal was struck through SingPost’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Singapore Post Enterprise Private Limited (SPE).

On November 1, SingPost announced the launch of its Regional eCommerce Logistics Hub (eComm Log Hub) located at Tampines Logistics Park. The $135-million facility is SingPost’s largest ecommerce logistics investment in Singapore to date.

SingPost’s eComm Log Hub is a three-storey facility housing two warehouse floors, 150 simultaneous loading bays, and an office block. The ground floor of the building houses a fully automated parcel sorting facility with a maximum capacity of 100,000 parcels a day, and end-to-end sorting, shipping, and returns management capabilities that enable quicker order fulfilment. Automation plays a big part in eComm Log Hub. The entire facility will process parcels for local and worldwide delivery.
