Accordingly, Microsoft will work with the MIC to develop information and communications technology (ICT) skills, promote the development of e-government services, strengthen human capacity of the local software industry, and boost competitiveness of Vietnam’s ICT industry globally.
Pursuant to the signed GRF, the MIC and Microsoft Vietnam will cooperate in improving government workers’ capacity in adoption of ICT skills, promoting the delivery of e-government services via projects.
Microsoft Vietnam general director Jamie Harper said that Microsoft’s continued investment into Vietnam demonstrated the positive environment that the government was creating for foreign direct investment.
“Further acceleration of Vietnam’s ICT industry growth is important in order to continue to attract investment and enhance innovation. Microsoft is committed to further efforts in collaborating with the government to promote the country’s ICT industry growth,” he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, National Assembly office, IT Association, and other ICT projects in 17 provinces will be financed by Microsoft’s fund.
Projects mainly focus on development of information management systems, electronic information gateways, or enhancement of online public services systems. Overall these projects allow Vietnam’s ICT industry for access to the latest technology as well as boosting the competitiveness of Vietnam’s ICT in the region.
Vice MIC minister Nguyen Minh Hong said that Vietnam was a fast growing economy, under which all economic sectors were changing fast to keep up with the world. He predicted that in the near future, Vietnam would become one of the biggest IT markets in South East Asia.
In the past two year, GRF funded for 30 ICT projects for 19 provinces and units under the MIC to improve state management of ICT.
