Themed "Be creative, be iconic", the event will serve as a networking space for content creators, state management agencies, platforms, and brands. It aims to foster sharing and understanding to build a civilised community oriented towards positive values through activities that honour digital content creators, facilitate interactions among creators across platforms, and share insights and success stories.
The event is being organised by the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI) under the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
At the event announcement ceremony on September 11 in Hanoi, Le Quang Tu Do, director of the ABEI, stated, "In 2023, for the first time, the MIC organised a meeting to connect digital content creators and management companies of the three major platforms in Vietnam, including Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. All companies expressed their desire for state recognition and an official title."
The lack of a formal title, recognition, or networking opportunities has led some content creators astray. This has resulted in the proliferation of negative, inappropriate content, and even harmful, toxic, and illegal content on cyberspace and platforms, especially large cross-border platforms.
“Therefore, state management agencies, the three major platforms, and major advertisers and brands are collaborating to organise iContent 2024. This sends a clear message to digital content creators, management companies, and KOLs that if they create clean content, they can make a living from it," Do added.

As a partnering entity, Thao Griffiths, director of public policy at Meta Vietnam, said, "We highly appreciate this programme for creating a healthy playground for digital content creators in Vietnam. It's also a way to honour them, as content creators have been putting great effort into their activities recently. Their contributions are not only in content creation but also significantly to Vietnam's digital economy in particular and the Vietnamese economy in general. We hope that the first iContent event will fulfil its mission of helping the content creation movement on digital platforms contribute to the regional economy."
Vietnam iContent 2024 will launch in September and conclude in November, featuring a series of activities. A key highlight will be the Vietnam iContent Awards 2024, aimed at honouring organisations and individuals for creating content and operating on digital platforms in the Vietnamese market.
iCon Share, a series of dialogues for prominent digital content creators in Vietnam, will run from September to October. Its goal is to portray the professional journeys of notable content creators, thereby spreading positive messages about this profession and fostering a spirit of ethical work to create value for the country and community.
The Vietnam iContent event series will culminate in the Vietnam Digital Content Creators Festival 2024, scheduled for late November in Ho Chi Minh City. The programme will include exhibition booths from various entities and individuals, along with a series of seminars on effectively leveraging platforms for content creation, policies to encourage and raise awareness of clean content on social media, and trends in the digital content creation industry.

Content creation on social platforms has become increasingly popular among the public, especially young people.
