At a ceremony in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai handed EuroCham Vietnam the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit and conferred the President’s Friendship Medal on Cany.

Established in 1998, EuroCham Vietnam has displayed itself as a leading foreign business association in Vietnam in terms of visibility, credibility and results.

This proactive and dynamic chamber with almost 800 corporate members has helped the European business community flourish in Vietnam and deepen the trade and investment ties between Vietnam and the EU.

It has built a continuous dialogue with the government and contributed many important ideas and high-quality recommendations for the improvement of Vietnam’s business climate.

This is the second certificate of merit that EuroCham has received from the Vietnamese prime minister in six months. Previously, EuroCham received an award for its involvement in Project 30, a landmark project aimed at cutting administrative procedures in Vietnam.

Cany, former general director of HSBC Vietnam and now country chairman of Jardine Matheson, is said to play an important role in the success of the chamber, which is recognised by both local and foreign authorities as a powerful and effective tool for business in Vietnam.
