Authorities of the central coastal city of Danang have met with Russian travel companies in Moscow on June 17 to explore tourism cooperation opportunities.

The meeting was held with support from the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia.

Last year, about 60,000 Russians spent their holidays in Vietnam and through this meeting, Danang authorities expected to raise the figure further.

Danang boasts a coastline of 30km, dotted with beaches celebrated as among the most beautiful in the globe and luxury resorts of various choices.

It lies between Hue imperial city, Hoi An ancient town and My Son relic site, which have all been recognised by the UNESCO as the world’s cultural heritages.

The city serves as important transport route in the central region, housing an international airport and a deepwater seaport, which facilitate tourists’ travel.

In 2010, Vietnam welcomed over 5 million foreign visitors.
