The agreement between City International Hospital (CIH) and Stroke International Services (SIS) seeks to establish an effective collaboration between the two professional medical practices for developing a Stroke Care Center at CIH.
Attending the signing ceremony, CIH Board of Directors, there were Yip Chong Kuan - owner's representative, Dr. John Louis Lucas – chief executive officer, and Associated Professor Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong - medical director. On behalf of Stroke International Services, there was Associate Professor Dr. Tran Chi Cuong – the founder of SIS.

Opening the ceremony, Dr. John Louis Lucas, CEO of CIH, stated “The hospital collaborative strategies with SIS to provide health benefits to the community, advances in care and treatment for stroke patients. In fact, the number of people having a stroke continues to rise and Strokes has become the leading cause of death and permanent paralysis in adults, third ranking cause of death after cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Stroke can happen to anyone at any time and affects everyone: survivors, family, friends, workplaces, and communities. Therefore, this strategic partnership is a fruitful milestone, which is critical for holistic patient care in the country.”

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Chi Cuong, the founder of SIS, said: “The cooperation with City International Hospital is one of Health Strategic Partnership, which provide the comprehensive pathway of stroke unit. This covers prehospital care, emergency room assessment and diagnosis, emergency medical treatment, stroke unit care, on-going rehabilitation, in appropriate facilities, personnel and equipment required to international quality standards. Especially in the project, the two parties aim to establish a training center to transfer stroke intervention techniques to patients in the country and the region.”
Dedicated Vietnamese doctors team up with foreign experts aiming for reducing permanent injuries and deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The establishment of a stroke centre at CIH will become the region's unique stroke rescue practice as well as a national quality improvement initiative focused on improving acute ischemic stroke care and outcomes by reducing door-to-needle times. CIH Stroke Centre will help ease the patient overload in public hospital and the quality of life of patients.
