Mineral stocks like Bac Giang Exploitable Mineral (BGM), Binh Thuan Mineral Industry (KSA), Nari Hamico Minerals (KSS) hit the ceiling throughout the sessions with hundreds of thousands units matched.
PetroVietnam-family pennies like PetroVietnam-Idico Long Son Industrial Park Investment (PXL), Petro Capital Infrastructure Investment (PTL), PetroVietnam Transportation Corp. (PVT) ended at ceiling prices with large matching volumes.
Small-cap stocks in real estate and construction sectors also saw an exciting session. Vietnam Electricity Construction (VNE), International Development and Investment Corp. (IDI), Tu Liem Urban Development (NTL), Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment JSC 584 (NTB), Dat Xanh Real Estate Service & Constructions Corp. (DXG) sharply jumped 4-5 per cent each.
Mid-cap and large-cap real estate stocks also rallied. Song Da Urban & Industrial Zone Investment and Development (SJS) hit the ceiling, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG) gained 2.52 per cent, Kinh Bac City Development Share Holding Corp. (KBC) 3.85 per cent while Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp. (ITA) and Investment and Trading Of Real Estate (ITC) strongly active.
Rallying sentiment helped several other stocks climb. As many as 193 stocks were up on the southern bourse, compared with 55 stocks off. Matching volume jumped to 35.8 million shares worth VND424.3 billion ($20.5 million) on the HoSE.
Whereas, large-cap stocks stayed modest. Financial stocks Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), Eximbank (EIB), Military Bank (MBB), Vietinbank (CTG), Sacombank (STB) added less than 1 per cent or ended flat, while Vietcombank (VCB) was off.
Poor performance of those large-cap stocks reined in HoSE’s rise. The benchmark VN-Index increased just 1.61 points or 0.39 per cent to 415.44 points.
Contrary to the HoSE, the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) fell. The benchmark HNX-Index shed 0.14 points or 0.2 per cent to 69.67 points. Matching value fell back to very low level of VND260 billion ($12.6 million).
Leading stocks of the northern bourse like Bao Viet Securities (BVS), Kim Long Securities (KLS), PetroVietnam Construction (PVX), Vietnam Construction and Import-Export (VCG) largely lost on selling pressure in the end of the session.
Total volume reached 43.3 million shares worth VND629.4 billion ($30.4 million) on HoSE and hit 35.1 million shares worth VND293.2 billion ($14.1 million) on HNX.
