The Long Thanh Airport in the southern Dong Nai Province is set to become the largest airport in Viet Nam.
According to the pre-feasibility report of the airport project, the terminal is an integral part of the airport's infrastructure. It must have specific characteristics that are consistent with special, synchronous service processes at Long Thanh International Airport.
The Long Thanh airport project was approved by the National Assembly in June 2015. Once implemented, the airport will be able to handle 100 million passengers and five million tonnes of freight per year.
The project has been divided into three phases. The first phase, expected to be completed in 2025, will make it possible to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of freight per year and will include the construction of a runway, a terminal and supporting infrastructure.
The project's funding is expected to come from the State budget, Official Development Assistance, corporate investment, Public–Private Partnerships (PPPs) and other resources.
