Toyota launches 2015 Camry in Vietnam

Toyota today launched the 2015 Camry, the upgraded version of the seventh generation Camry launched in 2012, on the Vietnamese market. 

The new Camry 2.5Q is priced at VND1.359 billion ($64,000), the 2.5G at VND1.214 billion ($57,000), the 2.0E at VND1.078 billion ($51,000). Toyota Motor Vietnam targets to sell 420 vehicles of the variety a month.

Since the Camry’s first appearance in Vietnam in 1998, Toyota has sold 38,000 Camry cars in this market. According to data by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, the Camry held the biggest market share in the mid-sized sedan segment in 2014 with 80 per cent, followed by Mazda with 17 per cent, Peugeot with 2 per cent and Honda Accord with 1 per cent.

According to Toyota Vietnam’s president Yoshihisa Maruta, Vietnam’s demand for cars is forecast to continue growing in 2015. “As the Vietnamese economy grows, more and more people want to have a car of their own,” he said.

Toyota has sold more than 14 million Camry’s worldwide. Production lines have been established in nine countries including Japan, the US, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia and Russia.
