City Chairman Le Hoang Quan receives Belgian delegation

Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, stated at a meeting yesterday in honour of Crown Prince Philippe and accompanying Belgian delegation, that projects involving Belgian enterprises in Vietnam had achieved good results.

He said that HCMC would offer favourable conditions to help Belgian enterprises' invest in the city.

For his part, Prince Philippe said Belgium hoped to be a gateway to Europe for Vietnam and that his country would promote co-operation with Vietnam in the fields of infrastructure development, logistics, railways and port management.

Chairman Quan hoped that Vietnam and Belgium would continue to further develop co-operation in the near future in other fields as well, especially education and training.

On the occasion, Chairman Quan and Crown Prince Philippe   witnessed the signing ceremony of the contract for the Belgium funded 70 million euro project for the second phase of dredging the Soai Rap River.

The river dredging project will help boost aquatic transport in HCMC and the three provinces Tien Giang, Long An and Ba ria-Vung Tau.
 
The two sides also signed contracts to release a sum of 13.5 million euro as ODA from the Belgium government to help HCMC build a waste water treatment plant.
