Nearly 286 million shares worth over 9.2 trillion VND (404.8 million USD) were traded on the southern bourse on the day.
Among large-cap stocks, gainers included Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Vietcombank (VCB) and brewer Sabeco (SAB), whose shares were up 700-5,000 VND each.
Meanwhile, the stocks of Vingroup (VIC) and consumer goods producer Masan (MSN) declined by 3,900 VND and 2,000 VND per share, respectively. Those of Vietinbank (CTG), PetroVietnam Gas (GAS) and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (VNM) fell 300-800 VND per share.
In the VN30, the 30 largest shares by market capitalisation, the prices of nine share codes increased, while 19 others experienced decreases.
The VN30-Inex dropped 9.62 points to 1,168.06 points, with 78 million units valued at 4.3 trillion VND (189.2 million USD) changed hands.
Meanwhile, the HNX-Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange was down 1.1 points to 136.68 points with 67 million units worth over 1.14 trillion VND (50.04 million USD) being traded.
The HNX30, tracking the HNX’s 30 leading shares in terms of market capitalisation and liquidity, retreated 3.06 points to close at 258.94 points with 50 million units traded at more than 1 trillion VND (44.1 million USD).
The UPCOM Index on the Unlisted Public Company Market (UPCoM) decreased slightly 0.03 percent to settle at 60.42 points. Nearly 27 million units were sold at 746 billion VND (32.74 million USD).
