VN-Index finishes month in bullish sentiment

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index prolonged rising momentum to six consecutive trading sessions on November 30 as investors increased disbursement after being in low confidence for a long time.

The gauge of 270 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rallied 1.17 per cent, or 5.23 points, to close at 451.59 points.

Of the measure, 228 stocks advanced, 16 retreated, while 31 remained unchanged.

Trading volume on the city bourse climbed to the highest level since May 11. Nearly 67 million shares changed hands at a value of VND1.38 trillion, an increase of 60 per cent over the previous trading session.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, was the most active share in volume with 4.01 million shares traded.

Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) took the second rank with more than 4 million shares changing hands, followed by Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) with 2.71 million shares.

Winners on the southern market included AgriBank Securities Joint Stock Coporation (AGR), Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS), Chuong Duong Corporation (CDC), Construction Joint Stock Copany No 5 (SC5), Ha Tien Transport Joint Stock Company (HTV), and Dam Sen Water Park Corporation (DSN). They all sprang the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 per cent.

Construction and Materials Trading Joint Stock Company (CNT) advanced the second day,gaining 4.97 per cent to VND19,000.

Dong Hai Joint Stock Company of Ben Tre (DHC) and Meca Vneco Investment and Electricity Construction Joint Stock Company (VES) both closed up 4.96 per cent to VND12,700.

Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company (BMP) lost 4.85 per cent to VND49,000.

Viet Thang Aquafeed Joint Stock Company (VTF) declined the second day, giving up 4.64 per cent to VND18,500.

Traphaco Joint Stock Company (TRA) trimmed 3.89 per cent to trade at VND42,000.

Meanwhile, the northern bourse finished November with a robust gain. The Hanoi’s HNX-Index shot up 3.05 per cent, or 3.21 points, to finish at 108.43 points. Trading volume was around 55.8 million shares worth nearly VND1.02 trillion, an increase of 15 per cent in volume and 13.46 percent in value.

The UPCoM-Index of the unlisted shares market shrank 0.34 points to 40.49 points. One million shares changed hands at VND22.4 billion in the trading session this morning.
