Pho, made with rice noodles, beef or chicken, and local spices, reflects the cultural sophistication and craftsmanship of Hanoi’s people. Originally a simple, everyday dish, pho has evolved into a symbol of Vietnam’s rich culinary heritage, gaining global recognition.

The dish has been lauded by Lonely Planet, Business Insider, and TheTravel.com, with the latter ranking it among the top 10 foods globally. Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports has identified 700 pho restaurants across 18 districts meeting hygiene and food safety standards, with traditional establishments concentrated in Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, and Hai Ba Trung districts.
